Alcoholism, drug addiction and dual diagnosis are front running disorders that hinder the progress of many people today and CooperRiis Healing Community is a top rated facility offering a high end, fully accredited, goal oriented total solution package where YOUR recovery is our only job.
Servicing men and women 18 years of age and over, we help those who are motivated to recover in the process of reaching their physical, emotional and spiritual goals. Typical diagnoses include: Schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorders and all mood disorders. Some residents have borderline personality disorders and/or a history of substance abuse and addiction.
We offer 7 transitional community houses for residents that are ready to move on from one of our two main campuses.
We derive joy and fulfillment by helping to ignite hope and desire in individuals whose lives have been impeded by mental illness or emotional distress. CooperRiis Healing Community is a wonderful place that reaffirms and builds on strength and rekindles imagination and dreams. It is a place of peace, where our residents may rediscover their capacities for creativity, spirituality, wholeness and relationship building.
Recovery outcomes are documented through rigorous measurement.
Approximately 80% who use the multiple steps of the CooperRiis Healing Community program are able to transition successfully to their desired employment, education, and/or living situation.

- As both a therapeutic community and as an actual community, the CooperRiis Healing Community staff-with-resident interaction is integral to our success, as is resident-with-resident interaction
- The integration of residents into the work-life of the community is one way of helping them to restore their identity as responsible citizens of the community
- The clinical programming of the CooperRiis Healing Community is highly influenced by the Enhanced Recovery Model
- Individual psychotherapy, group therapy, family support and education, wellness counseling, psycho-education, and ongoing psychiatric evaluation and medication monitoring
- We also offer tutoring to residents that have not completed their high school education due to illness so they may graduate or obtain their GED
- Residents may apply for entry into the Asheville or Mill Spring/Tryon Community Program where they will focus on retaining and strengthening their recovery
